World may end…
So……
I got some grades back. Apparently, I got a 95 on the final for Epidemiology, leading to a 3.9 in the class, and I got a 3.8 in Problems in International Health.
I expect everyone who has ever known me in college to faint….now.
I’m totally scared – something is deperately wrong. Although it *does* rather explain the lack of social life.
The other class I had a real final in, Biostatistics, was a disaster that morning. I was up (almost) all night but could not bring myself to study. And I *still* managed to be late. And while I was late, the parking people said I couldn’t park where I wanted to and that I had to go park at the stadium. I said “oh. ok.” and then parked illegally, as half hour late vs 15 min late for a 1 hr 50 min exam is a not so good idea.
When I got to the classroom, I found out that I had forgotten my calculator in the car. I had to sit on the floor at the back of the auditorium to take it, too. Thus, I am a bit apprehensive as to what my final grade was, as I was so flustered by this point.
I parked the car illegally two more times that day, but no tickets. Luck in some ways, and not in others
Drank with co-students and took the shuttle directly from the pub to the airport – super cool and fun to finally get to relax. People in my dept. are pretty cool, so that helps, and some of em won’t be back next quarter :-/
But now! Now, I am in Atlanta, and in a few hours I will be in Durham visiting, erm, peeps. And eating.
The food last night from the cocktail party, if I say so myself, was very good. The menu: turkey empanadas, pork satay with homemade peanut sauce, thai corn fritters, blanched asparagus with a wasabi mayonnaise, bruchetta with goat cheese, roma tomatoes, fresh herbs, and olive oil, creme brulee-turned-into-flan-accidentally, edamame, and homemade guacamole. I sadly didn’t get time to finish the oysters rockefeller, so I’ll have to cook those when I get back (and who’s gonna be able to eat two dozen oysters, I have no idea). The signature drinks were a champagne punch, the Christmas Bonnie (gin, pomegrante juice, splash of oj), and the Nutcracker Sweet (vanilla vodka, amaretto, and creme de cacao in a chocolate-rimmed martini glass). I even wore a dress and…shaved.
So, people who don’t live in Atlanta, you missed out on seeing the, um, food, and the annual shaving
Wow. That digressed quite a bit from my grades. Ah, well. If you’re in Durham, call me! or email, and I’ll give you my #.
