Reasons I’m free:
Classes and papers are done, I miraculously got my place sublet for a month (so I’m only out $100 rather than $650), and I bought my ticket back to Atlanta.
Reasons I’m not free: I’m still working fulltime this week, my laptop still is virtually unusuable without an external monitor, I haven’t packed, and I still don’t know where I’m going in Peace Corps.
On the other hand, I finished Transmetropolitan, which warmed the curmudgeonly cockles of my heart. More on that later.

bear this op-ed in mind: Take this internship and shove it
Interesting parallels concerning the wage floor (floor! of all things) dropping out for young college graduates. I wonder about the scope of unpaid in developing country settings, though - I’ve seen the “pay for a volunteer vacation” experience, but I’ve also seen people search for grants to subsidize their work in developing countries with a place that can’t pay for them. Is it coercion or parachuting in to save the day, then, though?

I have nothing to do with the fact that there are two large red firetrucks outside my apartment building.
No, really, I don’t.
Though their beeping while going backwards slowly seems oddly un-firetruck-like.
