Lunch break posting+

Charlene @ 10:19 am

It’s generally a good indicator that if I post I’m procrastinating/running away from some sort of work. Today it’s the three assignments I was supposed to do last quarter for a class that’s due tomorrow… In an effort to be good, email is turned off and there’s a grumpy away msg on IM. But now it’s time for lunch (cheerios and milk, I believe) and I’m giving myself a treat by using the interweb a tad.

Twitter is another cheap way to update (see actual blog site ) as it has an AIMbot and gtalk thingy. I need to buy trillian pro soon so as to make gtalk integrate in with all the restesses.

Another item I’d like to get for Mongolia would be…

Sets of long underwear!!
Super exciting, I’m sure. I’ve been looking at REI and haven’t quite found what I’ve wanted. I have heard people in Mongol-land swear by the silk variety, and a pair each in black and white (though they generally recommend dark clothes as stains, etc. will be less visible and washing will be less often too). REI, you have failed me! But perhaps elsewhere…like here. I am confused as to what material though. Silk = nice, lightweight, breathable, but is it as warm as wool, which has breathable, but itchy and maybe heavy? What about synthetics? Most online advice is for skiiers or other winter sports people, who are really active so they need things like wicking and lighter weight. What about when you’re just cold? Bah.

Edit: REI’s engine sucks - here’s what I was looking for…

List of things I’m hoping to procure for Mongolia

Charlene @ 1:05 pm

This is the vague start of a list of items for Mongolia. I already have a pair of study boots (thanks Amy and Jordan) and a spiffy coat/parka with down insides (something like this), but there are other random items I’d like to get that may or may not come to fruition. Still, I tend to forget what I want, so this is a tentative start of remembering em.

The inaugural item is…drumroll…
A titanium folding spork!
I wish I had one already, as I’m always looking for a utensil and I do feel a pang of guilt at using a plastic fork once then throwing it away cuz I have nowhere to put it afterwards or it has a yucky film of old pad thai/stir fry on it that just won’t come off…and it’s foldable! and titanium! how spiffy…
